Community 13 – A Confessing Community (James 5:13-16)
To bite into an apple and find, just beneath the skin, soggy brown mush — that’s not fun.
We all long for wholeness — in our apples, and in ourselves. In a letter written by James, the brother of Jesus, we read about people living lives that are whole and healed. One of the keys to this, James writes in chapter 5, verse 16:
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another.” At first glance, that doesn’t sound like a recipe for a healthy, whole community — it sounds like a recipe for a messy one. But maybe that’s the point.
Join us this Sunday as we explore what God can accomplish through — and perhaps especially through — messy community.
